As a rough guide, a 1-bed home needs around 15–25 boxes, a 2–3 bed home around 30–50, and a 4+ bed home 60 or more. Mix medium double wall boxes for books and heavy items with larger boxes for bulky, lighter things, plus a few wardrobe boxes for hanging clothes.
Double wall cardboard boxes are best for a house move — they're far stronger than single wall and stack safely in a van. Use smaller boxes for heavy items like books and crockery, larger boxes for bedding and soft furnishings, and wardrobe boxes with a hanging rail for clothes.
